PARTNER SITE (Historical)
Harris County, Texas
Overview/Goals
The Harris County Community Supervision and Corrections Department (CSCD), in partnership with local and community partners, is building upon existing strategies in order to improve services for supervised individuals with OUD.
Approach
Harris County, which includes Houston, the fourth-largest city in the nation, has 3,000 opioid-involved individuals under CJ supervision at any one time. Many individuals with OUD are currently diverted through the existing Responsive Interventions for Change (RIC) docket. CSCD and its partners are working to reduce the time it takes to assess individuals on the RIC docket for detox services and treatment and identify options for expanding community-based treatment to individuals not eligible for existing programs. Working with researchers at NYU, they will improve record keeping and data reporting to inform the development and coordination of interventions that address the public health and safety needs of individuals with OUD.
